Outreach Clinics

Outreach Clinics

Holding outreach antenatal and family planning clinics in isolated settings has been a key way MAMA has reached isolated, deprived communities in Western Uganda. These outreach clinics have been invaluable in developing strong relationships with these communities and their leaders, as precursors to establishing our permanent facilities.

Kyarushesha

Kyarushesha

In 2017 MAMA expanded to provide an outreach clinic in Kyarushasha, another rural village in Hoima District. We see around 85 pregnant mothers every six weeks, plus other women for family planning. We have seen an increase in uptake of family planning over the last six months.

Maternity Waiting Homes

Maternity Waiting Homes

Waiting homes are for expectant mothers to come and wait to go into labour in a designated area so they can receive care from a skilled birth attendant at delivery. And MAMA is happy to announce the opening of their maternity waiting homes, the first two in Hoima district.

Tonya

Tonya

Tonya is a village located in the Hoima District, along the Eastern shores of Lake Albert and lies approximately 45 km from Hoima town. For the two years up until June 2015 Tonya had no midwife. Now with the arrival of Viola, the new midwife, the government have increased the clinic to a Health Centre III.
